* During our Great Liberation War 1971 the then Pakistan Government shifted this Academy to Karachi, Pakistan. Immediately after liberation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman established this Academy as Bangladesh Marine Academy with British Technical Cooperation (BTCO) assistance and appointing Capt. (Merchant Marine) M L Rahman as the Commandant (first Bangalee Commandant).
